wir freuen uns, Sie zu einem Vortrag von Kathleen Coleman, James Loeb Professor of the Classics in Harvard,  einzuladen, den sie speziell für den Harvard Club, das Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte und die James Loeb Gesellschaft e.V. halten wird.

 

Der Vortrag von Professor Coleman hat den Titel "Für die Augen der Nachwelt: ein römisches Grabmal mit Kinderporträt und Gedicht" und ist auf deutsch.

 

Er findet statt am Montag, den 16. Juli 2018 um 19 Uhr 

im Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, Raum 242 (zweiter Stock), 

Katharina von Bora Straße 10, München.

 

Bei dieser Veranstaltung sind auch Alumni anderer Ivy League Universitäten und Mitglieder des Ivy Circle eingeladen.

Professor Coleman ist James Loeb Professor of the Classics in Harvard. Sie ist eine Expertin für lateinische Literatur, insbesondere für flavische Poesie, Geschichte und Kultur des frühen Römischen Reiches, römische Spektakel und Strafformen. Im Jahre 2012 wurde sie als korrespondierendes Mitglied in die Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften aufgenommen und ist aktuell Mitglied im geschäftsführenden Ausschuss "Internationale Thesaurus-Kommission". Sie ist Autorin zahlreicher Publikationen über die Antike, u. a. des Buches Statius: Siluae IV, für das sie den University of Cape Town Book Award erhalten hat, den sie sich mit J. M. Coetzee (für Age of Iron) geteilt hat, sowie des Buches Martial, Liber Spectaculorum. Ihre Auszeichnungen und Preise umfassen ein Alexander von Humboldt Forschungsstipendium, den Joseph R. Levenson Teaching Prize for Senior Faculty, vergeben vom Undergraduate Council von Harvard College und die Walter Channing Cabot Fellowship (Harvard University). Sie machte ihre Bachelorabschlüsse an der University of Cape Town und der University of Rhodesia (jetzt Zimbabwe) und erhielt ihren D. Phil von der University of Oxford.

We are delighted to announce that Kathleen Coleman, James Loeb Professor of the Classics at Harvard University, will be in Munich and will be giving a lecture especially for the Harvard Club, the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, and the James Loeb Society e.V.

 

Prof. Coleman's lecture is entitled, "Für die Augen der Nachwelt: ein römisches Grabmal mit Kinderporträt und Gedicht" 

(For the Eyes of Posterity: A Roman Tomb with a Portrait of a Child and a Poem).

The lecture will be held in German.

 

It will take place on: Monday, July 16, 2108 at 7 pm,

at the Zentralinstitut fuer Kunstgeschichte, Rm. 242 (Second Floor)

We will also invite alumni from the other Ivy League universities and Ivy Circle.

Prof. Coleman is the James Loeb Professor of the Classics at Harvard, and is an expert in Latin literature, especially Flavian poetry; history and culture of the early Empire; arena spectacles; and Roman punishment. In 2012, she was elected Corresponding Member of the Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften (Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities) and is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the academy's 'Internationale Thesaurus-Kommission'. She is the author of numerous publications on antiquity, including the books Statius, Siluae IV: Text, Translation, and Commentary, for which she received the University of Cape Town Book Award, a prize shared with J. M. Coetzee (for Age of Iron), and Martial: Liber Spectaculorum: Edited with Introduction, Translation, and Commentary. Her awards and honors include the Alexander von Humboldt Forschungsstipendium; the Joseph R. Levenson Teaching Prize for Senior Faculty, awarded by the Undergraduate Council of Harvard College; and the Walter Channing Cabot Fellowship, (Harvard University). She received her Bachelor's degrees from the University of Cape Town and University of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), and her D. Phil from the University of Oxford.
